WHAT TO EXPECT

True Roots movement, nature, and art camp allows children to get grounded in nature and curious about their bodies and the world around them. This school break, give your child the freedom of movement, mindfulness, and fresh air 🤎

Each day we will start the day grounding with a breath and movement/pose of the day. This breath and pose will be revisited and practiced throughout the day as a tool to regulate the mind and body. Throughout the week kids will make and create mindfulness tools and art that they can use at home. We believe that art can be beautiful and useful! At the end of the week your child will come home with a mindfulness tool kit filled with movement and breathing tools to help them self regulate and poses and affirmations to ground and empower themselves.

MARIAH

Anna began her career in education with dual degrees in Fine Art and Psychology. After discovering her passion for teaching children, she earned her Master's in Early Childhood Education and now blends her love of art, nature, and child development to create engaging learning experiences for young children. Outside the classroom, Anna is the mother of identical twin boys and enjoys woodworking, photography, yoga, and time outdoors with family.

Jerika is the founder of True Roots Family Yoga and has been working with children and their families for more than 15 years. She holds a Master's in Early Childhood Education, a 200-hour yoga certification, and a specialized certification in children's yoga. Rooted in Reggio Emilia philosophy, Jerika believes children learn best through curiosity, play, and connection to the natural world. Her goal is make movement and breathing techniques accessible to all to help regulate the body and soul.

Mariah believes yoga teaches us how to direct our attention, observe our emotions rather than react to them, and respond from a grounded, connected place — skills she believes children especially need while growing up in a loud, fast-paced digital world. Mariah teaches through an intentional and embodied lens where twisting and turning of the body are used to observe the mind and notice what arises in the present moment. She is passionate about helping kids cultivate that same inner steadiness early on, so it becomes a lasting source of strength they can carry with them through life.
